The reconstruction of the Garabogaz customs post, located on the border between Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan, will start in January 2024.
This is provided for by the decree of the President of Turkmenistan dated December 29, 2023. The reconstruction is aimed at expanding the territory of the checkpoint, re-equipping it and increasing its capacity.
It is also planned to reconstruct the administrative building of the post, acquire and equip a new inspection and screening installation - an X-ray machine for cars.
According to customs statistics, there is a positive trend in the growth of foreign trade and transit flows through the Garabogaz checkpoint.
Its modernization will contribute to reducing the time required for customs procedures, stimulating an increase in the number of goods passing through the post.
The new high-precision X-ray equipment will allow for a detailed analysis of the quantity and quality of goods imported into Turkmenistan. The reconstruction of the post is planned to be completed by the end of 2024.
