Saparmyrat Atabaev, 24-year-old international master from Ashgabat, emerged as the winner of the 33rd White Elephant Elite Chess Tournament held in Turkey.

The Chess Federation of Turkmenistan informed the correspondent of "GA" that the competition involved 27 chess players, 9 of whom were titled players.

The competition took place using the Swiss system in 7 rounds, during which our compatriot won six games and drew one. As a result, Saparmyrat scored 6.5 points and surpassed Turkish international master Tarhan Adar, who managed to draw with him.

It is worth noting that last year Saparmyrat Atabaev from Ashgabat fulfilled all the requirements for the title of grandmaster by winning the chess festival "Rokirovka-2023 Masters" held in the capital of Uzbekistan in December.
