Every year on January 24, International Education Day is celebrated in countries around the world. It was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly resolution on December 3, 2018, to commemorate the important role of education in achieving global peace and universal sustainable development.
Turkmenistan will hold subject Olympiads among 11th-grade students of secondary schools in honor of International Education Day. These Olympiads are organized by the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan in collaboration with the Central Council of the Magtymguly Youth Organization of Turkmenistan.
The Olympiads in the history of Turkmenistan, mathematics, English and Turkmen languages will be held under the motto "Watanyň daýanjy – bilimli ýaşlar, Arkadagly Gahryman Serdaryň guwanjy ýaşlar!" ("Youth is the support of the Fatherland, Youth is the pride of Arkadagly Hero Serdar!").
High school students wishing to participate in the Olympiads should submit their application to the event organizing committee by email hgi.charetm@gmail.com by March 20 of the current year. Invitations to the Olympiads will be sent to registered students by April 3 to the email addresses provided in their applications.
The competitions for schoolchildren will be conducted online and will take place in two rounds in the capital city and velayats of the country during April. The schedule of the Olympiads, the sample application form and other useful information are available on the website of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan (www.iirmfa.edu.tm) in the Announcements section.
The winners and prize winners of the Olympiads, who achieve first, second and third places, as well as those who show high results in the competitions, will be awarded Certificates of Merit from the Higher School of Diplomacy of Turkmenistan and commemorative prizes from the Central Council of the Magtymguly Youth Organization of Turkmenistan on the "Open Doors Day", which will take place at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country on May 8, 2024.
The organization of the Olympiads aims to enhance the intellectual potential of the country's youth, promote career guidance for schoolchildren, develop their talents, identify the most gifted students who are capable of independently and skillfully applying innovative technologies. Moreover, the competitions are intended to contribute to the implementation of the plans of the Concept of the Development of the Digital Education System in the country and the Concept of the Improvement of Foreign Language Teaching in Turkmenistan.
