The draft program of the international forum to attract foreign investment in the energy sector of Turkmenistan, which will take place on the 24th to 25th of April, 2024 in Paris, has been published.
The event program includes a plenary session and five panel sessions. They will present a wide range of investment opportunities in all segments of the energy sector of Turkmenistan.
The rich resource potential of Turkmenistan will be the focus of the upcoming forum, which will examine prospects for cooperation related to both the production, transportation and processing of oil and gas, and the development of solar and wind energy. The course towards the development of clean energy will be confirmed at a separate session of the Paris forum, dedicated to discussing the main issues related to reducing methane emissions and fulfilling the Global Methane Commitment, which Turkmenistan joined at the COP28 climate summit in Dubay.
The forum in Paris will also present the main strategic projects of the energy complex of Turkmenistan to attract investment. This is the development of oil and gas fields on the shelf of the Caspian Sea and on land in the Balkan region. Currently, the British company GaffneyCline is supporting the SC «Turkmennebit» in preparing investment packages for the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea. The latest data will be presented on projects related to the optimization of production at mature fields and the development of the next stage of industrial development of the giant «Galkynysh» field, the reconstruction of the Turkmenbashy complex of oil refineries and the Seydi oil refinery, the construction of an underground gas storage facility and the implementation of a mega-project for the construction of the Turkmenistan- Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline.
Along with the production and export of natural gas, Turkmenistan pays special attention to the deep processing of hydrocarbons, which in the long term may become dominant in the country’s economy. Several gas chemical complexes have been commissioned in recent years, and plans to build new plants in the near future to produce high value-added products that are in high demand on world markets open up new opportunities for foreign investors. The State Concern «Turkmenhimiya» will present promising investment projects in the field of gas processing and the development of gas chemical production at the forum in Paris.
At the session dedicated to attracting investments in infrastructure projects of Turkmenistan in the fields of construction, transport, information and telecommunication technologies, the plan for the construction of the second phase of the smart city of Arkadag will be considered, which involves, in particular, the construction of facilities for the production of medical and other products from local raw materials.
The organizers of the forum in Paris - the State Concerns «Turkmennebit», «Turkmengas», and the State Corporation «Turkmengeologiya» in partnership with the Economic Organization «Turkmen Forum» and GaffneyCline express confidence that participation and business meetings within the forum will increase awareness and provide potential investors information from first sources about new investment projects in the energy sector of Turkmenistan. They note that the growing attractiveness of Turkmenistan for foreign investors is due to the stable economic and political situation in the country, a reliable legislative framework and government guarantees.
For those who cannot participate in person, a live broadcast of the forum will be organized via the Zoom platform. Meetings on the sidelines of the forum with the leadership of the oil and gas sector of Turkmenistan will be available both in person and online.
