The State Committee for Physical Culture and Sports of Turkmenistan held fencing competitions at the multifunctional sports complex in the centre of the Balkan velayat. Talented young sportsmen took part in the competition.
Among sportsmen under 17 years of age, Arslan Agayev from Ashgabat and Yelizaveta Prytkova from Balkan velayat became national champions in epee competition.
In the foil competition among boys, Shatlyk Orazov became the winner, and among girls, Chynar Goshungeldiyeva. Guvanch Gurdov and Yelizaveta Vodopyanova from Mary velayat won their medals.
During the four-day competition in Balkanabat, Shageldi Hayidov from Ashgabat took first place among boys, and Dariya Shevchenko from Balkan velayat took first place among girls. David Mammetnurov and Chynar Goshungeldiyeva won gold medals in the foil competition.
The Balkan velayat team, which managed to win the largest number of medals, took first place as a team. The second and third places were taken by the teams of Mary velayat and the city of Ashgabat, respectively.
The State Committee for Physical Culture and Sports of Turkmenistan presented medals and certificates of honour to the athletes who won the competitions. The Balkan velayat council of the youth organization of Turkmenistan named after Magtymguly, the regional union of trade unions of Turkmenistan and the Balkanabat city committee of the Democratic Party of Turkmenistan presented their gifts.
