Measures are being taken in Turkmenistan to modernize the transport infrastructure of the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea. This was reported by M. Chakyev, Director General of the Agency for Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers, during the government meeting via video link.

According to him, activities are being carried out to modernize the transport infrastructure of the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea, expand the maritime fleet, and increase the cargo flow in the International Seaport of Turkmenbashy.

In this regard, in order to develop international cooperation, simplify maritime navigation and traffic procedures in accordance with international standards, and improve trade relations with foreign countries, appropriate measures are being taken to accede Turkmenistan to the Convention on Facilitation of International Maritime Traffic of the International Maritime Organization (IMO).

After listening to the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the need to increase the volume of cargo transportation by maritime and river transport, instructing the head of the Agency to take necessary steps in this direction.
