The round-table meeting brought together the representatives of the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan, the State Medical University, I. Gandhi Ashgabat Secondary Medical School, Family Practice Centre, leading specialists of the International Scientific Training Centre as well international experts of the WHO Regional Office for Europe.
A group of international experts on medical education and accreditation of educational centres arrived in Ashgabat within the framework of the two-year agreement on cooperation between the WHO Regional Office for Europe and the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan. After studying the practices of the International Scientific Training Centre, foreign guests together with their Turkmen colleagues discussed the preparation for the international accreditation of the Centre for the European Society of Simulation for Applied Medicine (SESAM) programme. This will allow the centre to issue international certificates and invite foreign medical professionals to special trainings.
Specialists from Moldova and Latvia shared the experience of the university simulation centres in their countries. In turn, the Turkmen specialists presented detailed information on the system of training medical personnel created in our country, the work of centres for advanced training, the introduction of innovative technologies and modern methods of diagnosis and treatment.
According to the participants of the round-table meeting, unlike other countries where simulation centres are affiliated to clinics or medical schools, in Turkmenistan simulation centres are the independent structures. Moreover, the Turkmen centre has scientific, methodological and analytical departments that allow conducting fundamental and applied research on the current problems of medical science.
The areas of mutually beneficial partnership of the International Scientific Training Centre and similar institutions in Latvia and Moldova were discussed within the framework of the ‘round-table meeting.
