Turkmenistan has approved the Regulations on state accreditation of educational activities in order to introduce modern models for assessing the quality of education, based on international experience, into the national education system. It was developed in accordance with the Law of Turkmenistan «On Education», which includes management of the education system in accordance with generally accepted international standards and practices as one of the principles of state policy in the field of education.

State accreditation is a type of regulatory activity, which in the field of education includes: licensing, state accreditation and state supervision over the activities of educational institutions.

Turkmenistan has developed state educational standards for all levels of education. They are mandatory for all types and types of educational institutions, regardless of their form of ownership, as well as other forms of education. State educational standards are the basis for an objective assessment of the training and qualifications of graduates, regardless of the form of education. Based on the advanced innovative achievements of world theory and practice in the field of education, they ensure: the unity of the educational space of Turkmenistan; continuity of general education and professional educational programs; compliance of the educational system of Turkmenistan with the principles of the UNESCO International Standard Classification of Education; achieving a high level of quality education; recognition of educational documents for the unhindered participation of Turkmenistan in the international labor market; objective assessment of the activities of educational institutions. Confirmation by the accreditation body of the compliance of the activities of an educational institution with current state standards is the basis for issuing a certificate of state accreditation.
