The championship that started in Tashkent gathered 239 athletes from 34 countries Asian Weightlifting Championships, in which the team also takes part Turkmenistan.

In addition to medals and valuable prizes in ten weight categories among men and women, Asia's leading weightlifters will compete for ranking points, which will help them qualify for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

Chinese weightlifters miss the tournament because they decided to focus on preparations for the World Cup, which will be held in March-April.

The Turkmenistan national team is represented at the Asian Championship by 12 athletes.

The women's team included: 2023 world champion among girls (up to 17 years old) in Durres (Albania) Ogulshat Amanova (weight category up to 49 kg), 2018 world champion in weight up to 45 kg Yulduz Dzhumabaeva and Kristina Shermetova (both - up to 55 kg), silver medalist of the Tokyo Olympics in weight up to 59 kg Polina Guryeva (up to 76 kg) and the 2023 Asian champion among girls (under 17 years old) and juniors (under 20 years old) and vice-champion of the junior World Championships 2023 Anamdzhan Rustamova (up to 81 kg).

As part of the men's team, the following will appear on the platform: Seyitjan Mirzaev (under 61 kg), Bunyad Rashidov and Bektimur Reyimov (both up to 73 kg), Maksad Meredov (up to 81 kg), silver medalist at the 2023 Junior World Championships in Guadalajara (Mexico) and the 2023 Asian Junior Championships in Delhi (India) Gaygysyz Toraev (up to 89 kg), winner of the December international tournament Grand at II in Doha (Qatar) Shahzadbek Matyakubov (up to 96 kg) and Khojamuhammet Toychiev (over 109 kg).

The Asian Weightlifting Championships will end on February 10.
