The gross domestic product (GDP) growth of Turkmenistan in January 2024 was 6.3 percent. Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs H. Geldimyradov made a report on macroeconomic indicators for the first month of this year at the government meeting via video link.
It was reported that, a stable GDP growth rate of 6.3 percent was achieved as a result of successful implementation of comprehensive measures in January. The volume of produced goods increased by 8.2 percent compared to the same period in 2023. Retail turnover in the first month of the current year grew by 10.6 percent compared to the same period last year. The revenue side of the State Budget was fulfilled at 104.8 percent, while the expenditure side was at 97.1 percent.
Wages at large and medium-sized enterprises in the country are 10 percent higher compared to the corresponding period in 2023. Timely financing was provided for wages, pensions, government benefits and student scholarships.
Compared to the same period of previous year, capital investments in January increased by 24.6 percent, funded from all financing sources.
Summarizing the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the importance of carrying out the necessary work for the successful accomplishment of the tasks set for 2024 in the Program of Socio-Economic Development of the country for 2022-2028. Stressing the need for taking appropriate measures to maintain GDP growth dynamics and the coordinated development of industries, the President of Turkmenistan addressed the Deputy Prime Minister with a series of specific instructions.
