President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov received credentials from the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Italy to Turkmenistan Diego Ungaro.
During an exchange of views on the prospects of the Turkmen-Italian cooperation, the special emphasis was made on the fact that this year marks the 25th anniversary of establishing the diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The President of Turkmenistan and the Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Italy pointed out the existence of a solid potential for building up and diversification of productive contacts in a wide range of areas. Turkmenistan and Italy also demonstrate a high level of mutual understanding on topical issues on the global agenda.
As was pointed out, there are ample opportunities for strengthening bilateral economic partnership, increasing the bilateral trade turnover, and stimulating direct business contacts.
During a conversation, President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov mentioned the long-term joint work of Turkmen and Italian scientists in the field of carrying out the archaeological excavations, as well as the studying and preserving the unique historical and cultural monuments located in the territory of Turkmenistan. There are the promising preconditions for deepening bilateral educational exchanges, where, an illustrative example of teaching the Italian language in our country can be made.
