From February 25 to 28, a working visit of the delegation of Turkmenistan to Qatar, headed by the Minister of Education of the country Bayramgul Orazdurdiyeva, took place.
The main goal of the bilateral meeting is the effective development of relations in the field of science and education, in particular, strengthening ties between higher education institutions of the countries and the implementation of joint projects.
On the first day of the visit, the Turkmen delegation had a fruitful meeting with Qatar's Minister of Education and Higher Education Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi. During the meeting, topical issues of cooperation in the field of education, the establishment of active relations between educational institutions of the countries, and the exchange of professional experience in this area were discussed. It was noted that there are great opportunities for expanding and intensifying cooperation in the two friendly countries. Excursions to the Qatar National Museum and the Museum of Islamic Art were organized for the Turkmen delegation.
Further, within the framework of the visit, a working meeting was held between the Rector of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Jumamyrat Gurbangeldiyev and the head of the Diplomatic Institute of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar Abdulaziz bin Mohammed al-Khoury. During the meeting, the Rector of the IIR Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan put forward a number of proposals aimed at strengthening the partnership between the two higher educational institutions, in particular, to establish library cooperation, exchange scientific literature, conduct scientific seminars and conferences.
Special attention was paid to the newly opened specialized training center "Diplomatic Protocol" at the IIR of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. In this regard, Qatari specialists were invited to conduct thematic lectures and online training at this training center. It was noted that such international practice would contribute to the development of joint research and educational activities aimed at expanding the training opportunities for highly qualified diplomatic personnel. During the meeting, the prepared Turkmen the draft "Roadmap" of cooperation was signed by the party.
The Qatari colleagues expressed interest in the implementation of the initiatives proposed by the Turkmen side. As a result of the meeting, the parties reached an agreement on the planned areas of joint cooperation. The participants expressed their firm confidence that the meeting will become a key event in the development of Turkmen-Tatar scientific, educational and cultural ties, and expand cooperation in the field of training high-level specialists.
During the visit, the Turkmen delegation headed by Minister of Education Bayramgul Orazdurdiyeva visited the capital's "City of Education", where various educational institutions, including branches of eight international universities, are located. During the study tour, the Turkmen delegation met with Francisco Marmolejo, head of the Higher Education Department of the Qatar Foundation, head of the Department of Higher and Postgraduate Education of the Abir Al Khalifa organization, as well as rectors of universities located in the "City of Education" and the director The National Library of Qatar by Hamad Al Kawari.
The Turkmen delegation also visited the national pavilion of Turkmenistan, located at the International Horticultural Exhibition EXPO-2023 Doha, which is being held in the capital of Qatar under the motto "Green Desert, the best environment" from October 2, 2023 to March 28, 2024.
All events held within the framework of the working visit of the Turkmen delegation to Qatar allowed to determine important goals and objectives, priority areas of bilateral relations marked new effective steps in the development of Turkmen-Qatari cooperation in the field of science and education.
