Farmers of Dashoguz velayat have started planting potatoes. Due to the implemented agro-technical measures, the lands allocated for agricultural cultivation, seed material and necessary equipment were prepared in a timely and high-quality manner for the responsible campaign.

The largest potato producer in the region will once again be Akdepe etrap, where a total of 3440 hectares will be allocated for potato cultivation. The majority of these hectares belong to the "Shavat" and "N. Andalib" daikhan farms.

Farmers of Boldumsaz etrap plan to harvest around twenty-five thousand tons of potatoes this year, with the majority of the tubers being planted in the "Bereket," "Gokchaga," and "Turkmenistan" daikhan associations. The main part of the harvest will consist of potato varieties that have already been adapted to the local soil and climatic conditions, exhibiting high yields and resistance to various diseases.

In recent years, Dashoguz velayat has significantly increased potato production in accordance with the task set for the domestic agricultural sector to strengthen the country's food independence and increase the volume of production of various crops. Thus, only past year more than 123,000 tons of potatoes were harvested from 8,800 hectares of land. The velayat pays careful attention to selecting the most suitable areas for planting tubers, providing quality care for the plantations and implementing the most effective agro-technical practices in this area. Due to accumulated experience, the farmers in the region aim to achieve a high yield this year of no less than 140 centners per hectare.
