The resistance of sunflowers to saline soils, their growing season and average yield, as well as the need for fertilizers in such conditions, became the topic of scientific work by Y. Palyazova, a teacher at the Department of Agrochemistry and Soil Science at the Turkmen Agricultural Institute.
For three years she has been researching the oilseed heterotic hybrid sunflower «Sanluca», planted in areas containing a high amount of water-soluble salts.
Such hybrids, unlike traditional varieties, have rare properties, including high yield.
According to preliminary estimates of a specialist, such sunflowers are quite suitable for mass cultivation on moderately saline soil, however, much depends on the timely implementation of the necessary agrotechnical measures, including the correct feeding of the plant with fertilizers.
The relevance of the research is to a large extent connected with the prospects of culture in matters of effective use of land and soil reclamation, improvement of agricultural technology for its cultivation in the weather and climatic conditions of the region.
It seems that it was not by chance that the specialist chose a heterotic sunflower hybrid as an experiment.
In recent years, in Dashoguz velayat there has been interest in various agricultural structures.
For example, many hybrid sunflower varieties planted on different soils were tested for germination and productivity.
