A solemn ceremony of awarding the winners and closing the International Mathematical Olympiad among schoolchildren took place at the Aba Annaev International Academy of Horse Breeding in Arkadag. The event was attended by representatives of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Halk Maslahaty, public associations, domestic universities, mass media, as well as international organizations and diplomatic missions accredited in our country.

The main characters of the event were more than a hundred schoolchildren from Turkmenistan and around the world – participants of the International Mathematical Olympiad, held in Arkadag from March 26 to 29 with the support and commemoration of the third anniversary of the establishment of the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Care. 

They demonstrated their knowledge of mathematics at the Olympiad site 43 schoolchildren from Turkmenistan and 85 students from 11 foreign countries – Russia, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Iran, China, Bulgaria, Qatar and Turkey.

Successful performance at the Olympics brought Turkmen schoolchildren well-deserved 24 medals of various merits – 4 gold, 12 silver and 8 bronze medals. Such a high result of the participation of young mathematicians of our country is a vivid testimony to the paternal care of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Hero Arkadag for the younger generation, constant attention to the issues of education of comprehensively developed, educated, intellectual and patriotic youth.

On the festively decorated site in front of the university, the participants of the Olympiad were greeted with musical and song performances by young artists – representatives of creative amateur groups of the country and the winners of the Garaşsyzlygyñ merjen däneleri ("Pearls of Independence") competition, held annually within the framework of the Turkmen President's competition "Türkmeniñ Altyn asyry" ("Golden Age of Turkmen").

In the educational building of the university, within the framework of the event, its participants got acquainted with the successes achieved by students of schools in our country in different years at international competitions, design creative works, works of fine art created by students of children's art schools, a book exhibition. The participants of the celebration were shown a video about independent neutral Turkmenistan, about its achievements in the fields of science and education.

The closing ceremony of the Olympiad featured speeches by the heads of the country's education system, the chairman of the jury of the international Olympiad, members of foreign delegations, Turkmen and foreign schoolchildren, as well as other guests of the holiday. The participants of the event emphasized the successful and effective holding of the Olympiad, which became a vivid proof that the national education system is at a qualitatively new level of development, international cooperation in the field of science and education is intensifying.

The participants of the celebration expressed their special gratitude and sincere appreciation to the Hero-Arkadag and the President of Turkmenistan for the created conditions for holding an intellectual competition at a high organizational level.

Then there was a solemn ceremony honoring and awarding the winners of the Olympiad, who were awarded medals and diplomas.

On this day, a great gift for all children and teenagers participating in the Olympiad, as well as pupils of the Gurbanguly Children's Health and Rehabilitation Center Berdimuhamedov and the Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Döwletliler Köşgi Palace were visited by the new Arkach shopping and entertainment center in the capital.
