The Exhibition Center of Fine Arts of the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan hosted the opening of the exhibition of works by artists of Dashoguz velayat.
The exhibition featured 24 artists who presented 250 works, occupying both floors of the center. The works included paintings, graphics, ceramics, sculptures and jewelry art. Since Turkmenistan is on the eve of celebrating the 300th anniversary of Magtymguly Fragi, the works on the theme of Magtymguly were particularly relevant. Among them, the bust of the poet created by Oraz Matdurdyev stood out, which is simply titled "Magtymguly Fragi". The sculpture portrayed the poet as young and contemplative, as if immersed in creating another poem that would live for millennia.
In general, the sculptures by Dashoguz artists amazed all the exhibition visitors, mainly due to the works of Baygeldi Annamedov. The recent graduate of the State Academy of Arts of Turkmenistan impressed art experts and enthusiasts with his ability to convey the beauty of the animal world.
The ceramic jugs and vases by artist Bagtyyar Khojanyyazov were distinctive in their uniqueness. The elegance of their forms and colors impressed even the US Ambassador to Turkmenistan, who expressed a desire to be photographed next to them alongside the artist.
"Recently, the artists of Dashoguz velayat have worked differently. Now, as their works show, they have made a breakthrough in their creativity - they have become more liberated and have embraced new contemporary styles, yet modernity and ancient traditions intertwine in most of their works", comments Azat Annaev, Honored Art Worker of Turkmenistan, on his impression of the exhibition.
The painters showcased their talent excellently. The nature comes alive in vibrant colors in the works of Merdan Kakabaev. Memorable female portraits were presented by Chingiz Toraev. Merdan Babajanov, who presented an avant-garde style exhibition, held the attention of exhibition visitors for a long time.
"My colleagues last participated in a similar exhibition in Ashgabat in 2013. The creative competition among artists mobilizes them to achieve new heights", emphasizes Batyr Uzakberdiyev, an art historian at the Historical and Local Lore Museum of Dashoguz velayat, highlighting the significance of this event.
