118 athletes (68 men and 50 women) from Akhal, Dashoguz, Lebap, Mary velayats and Ashgabat gathered at the Olympic Village courts in the capital city for the Turkmenistan Tennis Championship.

The winners were determined both among men and women in singles and doubles categories.

The second seed 24-year-old Meylis Orazmukhamedov emerged as the champion in the men's tournament. On his way to this success, he easily won his first two matches against Malik Sapargeldiyev and Aykhan Durdyev with identical scores of 6-0, 6-0. Then he defeated Shamukhammet Batyrov 6-0, 6-1. Meylis defeated the seventh seed Merdan Khanov 6-2, 6-0 in the quarterfinals, and he overcame the fourth seed Atlymyrat Gurbanov 6-3, 6-3 in the semifinals. Surprisingly, he easily defeated the top seed Yuri Rogussky 6-1, 6-1 in the final.

This is Meylis Orazmukhamedov's second time becoming the champion of Turkmenistan. His victory in this championship also secured him the title of Turkmenistan men’s singles number one, which was previously held by the 28-year-old six-time national champion Yuri Rogussky. Meylis's success is rightfully shared with his mentor - Mirali Gasanov, head coach of the Turkmenistan national team and the Ashgabat Tennis Academy.

Meylis is a student at the Turkmen State Institute of Physical Culture and Sports. In his free time from studies, he trains young athletes at the Ashgabat Tennis Academy.

Completing the top three finishers is the third seed 24-year-old Khajymyrat Charyev, soldier of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, who defeated Atlymyrat Gurbanov in a tough battle for the third-place match with a score of 6-7, 7-5, 6-2.

The men's doubles champions were Khajymyrat Charyev and Meylis Orazmukhamedov, who defeated Yuri Rogussky and Iskander Yagmyrov in the final with a score of 6-0, 6-0.

The Turkmenistan champion for the first time became Aisha Bikbulatova, an 11th-grade student at Ashgabat Secondary School No. 50, in the absence of the Turkmenistan women’s singles № 1 Ilima Guseynova, who had to withdraw from the championship due to her participation in the qualifying stage of the prestigious Wimbledon tournament for girls U-14 in Malaysia.

On her way to this success, the second seed 16-year-old ward of Jennet Khalyyeva won consecutively against Aynur Movlyamova - 6-2, 6-3, and Aynur Annamyradova - 6-2, 6-0. In the semifinals, Aisha came out on top in a tough three-set match against the fourth seed Meriem Mukhammedova - 4-6, 7-6, 6-2, and confidently defeated the fifth seed Rozhan Karadzhaeva, first-year student at the Institute of Engineering and Technical Communications of Turkmenistan, in the final - 6-3, 6-2. The third-place in the championship was taken by Meriem Mukhammedova, a 9th-grade student at the Joint Turkmen-Russian Secondary School named after A.S. Pushkin.

The women's doubles winners were Aisha Bikbulatova and Meriem Mukhammedova, who defeated Aynur Annamyradova and Jennet Charyeva in the final with a score of 6-1, 7-6.
