An exhibition of works of fine and applied art dedicated to the national holiday Horse Day has been launched in the gallery of the State Academy of Arts of Turkmenistan. Students and teachers of the academy took part in it, presenting more than 300 works. This is the 13th exhibition, which annually marks one of the people’s favourite holidays.

Among the paintings, the most memorable painting was reminiscent of a collage due to its multi-coloured palette on a white background. In all likelihood, the artist depicted one of the training sessions at the hippodrome before important competitions. Let us remind you that the title of the painting and the name of the author appear under the number. The designers distinguished themselves by surprising us with the inexhaustible imagination in their works. One of these works is located at the entrance to the gallery. The author depicted a graceful Ahal-Teke horse using screen art using nails and threads. The designer managed to smoothly convey the magnificent color of the horse.

The friendship between the foal and the Alabay, conveyed in the sculpture, evokes a feeling of tenderness. Each of these characters is cute in their own way, but together they are simply adorable. And yet, the feeling of tenderness is inferior to the feeling of admiration that arises in front of the sculpture of a frolicking foal. It is characteristic that both sculptures are covered with acrylic paints, which creates a natural effect.

The predominant number of works, in all types of art, depict the head of a horse. One of the most impressive works in this series is the tapestry. The author presented such a horse’s head that looking at it, a paradoxical thought involuntarily arises: «Such beautiful horses would not exist if we had not seen them alive».

A huge collection of jewelry was presented by students and teachers of the academy. Among them are many magnificent women's jewelry, stylized on the theme of a horse, as well as horse harness. Each of these decorations is, without exaggeration, a work of art.

It should be noted that by the 24th of April, the exhibition of works by students and teachers will be replenished with works of all Turkmen artists who want to take part in the competition, and turn from a university exhibition into a state one. The winner of each category will be awarded.
