The Turkmen capital's tennis championship, which ended on the courts of the «Ashgabat» multifunctional stadium, gathered 120 young athletes.
Winners and prize winners were determined in two age categories – under 14 and 18 years old.
An eighth-grader from Ashgabat specialized secondary school № 42, Ilima Huseynova, won an unconditional victory in two age categories among girls. In the final in the junior age group, she beat Nazli Hudaygulyyeva, a 5th grade student at Ashgabat secondary school №87, 6:4, 6:1, and in the senior match she beat the current champion of Turkmenistan in two sets, an 11th grade student at Ashgabat secondary school №50 Aisha Bikbulatova – 6:3, 6:2.
Anna Ponyatova and Aynur Movlamova became bronze medalists. Ponyatova won the match for 3rd place in the under 14 category against Leyla Esenova, and Movlamova defeated Leyla Hojamgulyyeva for a place on the podium in the under 18 category.
For the boys, the fate of first place in both age categories was decided in a tiebreaker. In the group under 14 years old, Suleyman Hudayberdiyev, a 7th grade student at secondary school № 86 in Ashgabat, prevailed, defeating Nazar Amangeldiyev in the final - 6:4, 3:6, 10:7. And in the category under 18 years old, Resul Mammetgurbanov, a 9th grade student of Ashgabat secondary school №51, won, beating Selim Chagylov in the final - 6:4, 3:6, 11:9.
Kerim Velibekov (under 14 years old) and Selim Pirjikov (under 18 years old) completed the top three. The latter won the fight for 3rd place against the two-time silver medalist of the last Dushanbe Open Championship among juniors under 14 years old, Emirhan Rustamov.
In the doubles of boys, the winners of the Ashgabat championship were Selim Chagylov, a 9th grade student at Ashgabat Secondary School №18, and Selim Pirjikov, an 11th grade student at Ashgabat Secondary School №88. In the final, this duo beat Resul Mammetgurbanov and Isgender Yagmyrov, who became silver medalists.
And among the girls in the doubles competition, Aysha Bikbulatova and Aynur Movlamova rose to the highest step of the podium. In the final, they turned out to be stronger than Aylar Serdarova and Dana Jumabayeva, who were content with silver medals.
