The national tennis championship of Turkmenistan has started today in our capital, with around 150 young athletes from Ashgabat and the country's velayats participating. 

The competition features boys and girls under 14 and 18 years old, and is taking place on the courts of the Ashgabat multifunctional stadium. 

The winners will be determined in singles and doubles events. The championship is officiated by the chief judge Evgeny Molchanov a 39-year-old national category referee, holder of the international Level 1 coaching category.

The Turkmenistan championship is one of the most important annual tournaments, as the composition of the national junior teams under 14 and 18 will be determined upon its completion.
