"Turkmen-Turkish Brotherhood" exhibition was held in Ashgabat

Last weekend Visitors had the opportunity to taste Turkmen pilaf and Turkish-style beans, as well as get acquainted with the cultural traditions and customs of Turkey and Turkmenistan at the Joint Turkmen-Turkish School.

There were exhibition tents and stands displaying folk craft products, national costumes, cultural and historical heritage of the two Turkic-speaking peoples whose roots go back centuries.

The Joint Turkmen-Turkish School is a vivid example of the brotherhood between the two countries. The school uses two languages, and in addition to the school curriculum, students study dances and folk folklore.

A bright highlight of the cultural program was the Turkmen folk dance "Kushtdepdi". "Kushtdepdi" rite of singing and dancing is included in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Therefore, the children always perform the movements with special enthusiasm and pride, delighting every viewer.

Next, the baton of the folk festivities was taken over by the traditional Turkish dance "Kashik", which translates from Turkish as "spoon". In this dance, the dancers use small wooden spoons to beat the rhythm during their performances.

While some guests enjoyed the spectacular part of the exhibition, others tasted the dishes that the Turkmen and Turkish national cuisines are proud of. Among the treats were Turkmen peshme, Turkish coffee, dolma, hot pilaf and much more.

The final chord of the exhibition was a demonstration of national costumes and the opportunity to get acquainted with the Akhal-Teke horses.
