On May 6, 2024, an online meeting was held between representatives of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Customs and Trade of the Republic of Turkiye. About this reports Stase Customs Service of Turkmenistan.
Due to the Agenda Parties discussed the drafts of Agreement on the Simplified Customs Corridor (CPC) and the Protocol on the Establishment of a Joint Customs Committee were considered.
The basis of the Simplified Customs Corridor project is the exchange between the customs services of Turkmenistan and Turkiye of preliminary information on goods transported within the framework of the Customs Code. This information will be used during customs control in order to provide simplified customs procedures in the country of import.
The purpose of the establishment of the Joint Customs Committee is to intensify and organize effective customs cooperation within the framework of the bilateral agreements on customs concluded between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Turkiye.
As noted by the Turkmen side, the Republic of Turkiye is one of the main importing countries of Turkmenistan and, as evidenced by customs statistics, the total trade turnover between the two countries is constantly growing.
In this regard, the Parties stressed the expediency of creating a Joint Customs Committee and a Simplified Customs Corridor, which could contribute to the further development of bilateral trade.
