The Turkmen athlete Alymukhammet Kakalyev won a bronze medal at the international "Karate 1 Youth League" tournament of the World Karate Federation (WKF) series, which concluded in the Spanish city of La Coruña.

The competitions, held under the auspices of the World Karate Federation (WKF), involved 3,035 athletes from 70 countries, who competed not only for medals in age categories from 12 to 20 years old but also for ranking points to participate in the 4th Summer Youth Olympic Games in 2026 in Dakar, Senegal.

As reported to the correspondent of "GA" by the Karatedo Federation of Turkmenistan, our team was represented at the tournament by 21 athletes, 2 coaches and 6 international-class referees.

Alymukhammet Kakalyev, an 8th-grade student at Secondary School No. 61 in Ashgabat, earned a bronze medal in the U14 Kumite Male -55 kg.

This is not the first success of the talented karateka in international competitions. In February 2024, Alymukhammet became a bronze medalist at the "Karate 1 Youth League" international tournament in Fujairah (United Arab Emirates), and earlier this month he reached the top step of the podium at the 9th Central Asian Karate Federation Championships in Samarkand (Uzbekistan).

Alymukhammet Kakalyev began practicing karate under the guidance of coach Maksat Atdayev at the sports school of the Ak Bugday etrap in Akhal velayat. Currently, he is honing his skills in the national team of Turkmenistan under the leadership of the head coach, 5th dan black belt holder Aidyn Charyev.

In the near future, Turkmen karatekas plan to participate in another international "Karate 1 Youth League" tournament, which will take place from June 24 to 26 in the city of Porec, Croatia.

The 4th Summer Youth Games, which will be the first Olympics held on the African continent, will take place in the capital of Senegal from October 31 to November 13, 2026.
