Science is the backbone of Turkmenistan's rapid development

The International Scientific Conference "Science, Technology and Innovative Technologies in the Era of the Revival of the New Era of the Powerful State", traditionally timed to coincide with Science Day widely celebrated in our country, began its work today at the Oguz Han Engineering and Technology University in the capital.

The two-day forum, annually organized by the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan to strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation with the global scientific community, was attended by domestic scientists, heads and representatives of academies of sciences and higher educational institutions from a number of foreign countries, including Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Russia, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, France, Estonia, Japan and others.

Before the start of the scientific symposium held in a hybrid format, its numerous participants familiarized themselves with an exhibition of innovative technologies, providing a vivid representation of the high level of development of modern Turkmenistan, where special attention is paid to the comprehensive modernization of the scientific and educational sphere.

During the subsequent plenary session, the delegates of the representative forum listened with great attention to the welcoming Address by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who expressed confidence that the substantive events dedicated to Science Day would contribute to the work of scientists in important and promising areas of science, the exchange of mutual experience, and the strengthening of cooperation.

"Science is the path to a bright future of humanity. Modern scientific and technological achievements, knowledge and innovations serve as a guarantee for the further prosperity of the country, the modernization of the national economy and progress in all areas, and the strengthening of the positions of our neutral Homeland in the global political, economic, scientific and cultural space," the head of state emphasized in his message, expressing Turkmenistan's readiness to consistently expand cooperation in the field of science, technology and innovative technologies with international organizations and scientific centers of foreign countries, as well as to coordinate joint efforts.

Next, representatives of the global scientific community delivered welcoming speeches: Rifkat Minnikhanov, Professor, Doctor of Sciences, President of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan (Russia); Kanatbek Abdrakhmatov, President of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic, Corresponding Member of the NAS KR; Vasily Gursky, Chief Scientific Secretary of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Doctor of Sciences; Gayrat Bakhadirov, Professor, Doctor of Sciences, Chief Scientific Secretary of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan; Lyazzat Yeraliyeva, Professor, Doctor of Sciences, Vice President of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and other foreign scientists, who spoke about the main areas of activity, promising research and achievements of their scientific centers.

In the general opinion, it is precisely the development of fundamental and applied science, the widespread introduction of innovative technologies and promising developments that are the fundamental factor in achieving economic growth and improving the quality of life of the population in the modern world.

A prime example in this regard has become modern Turkmenistan, which has defined the development of science and education among the highest priorities of state policy.

In recent years, favorable conditions and ample opportunities have been created in our country for conducting theoretical and applied scientific research, creating competitive, environmentally friendly and economically efficient high technologies, as well as for the active introduction of the innovations being developed.

Thus, the country's and the Central Asian region's first "smart" city of Arkadag, which can be rightfully called the city of the future, has become the brightest symbol of the grandiose transformations of the new historical era, initiated by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Hero Arkadag, and now consistently continued under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

The very idea of creating this unique "smart city" in terms of its architectural and technological solutions speaks of a strategic vision for the country's future as a highly developed state.

The city of Arkadag, which has been legislatively granted a special legal status as a city of national importance, has become an irrefutable testimony to the economic viability of sovereign Turkmenistan, which has staked on the active introduction of a digital system and high technologies in all spheres of life.

A defining role in this process is played by the implementation of the Concept for the Development of the Digital Economy in Turkmenistan for 2019-2025, the State Program for the Development of the Digital Economy in Turkmenistan for 2021-2025, as well as the Concept for the Development of the Digital Education System in Turkmenistan.

In this regard, it should be noted that the construction of the city of Arkadag and the development of its digital platform have become a kind of school for the practical application of theoretical knowledge, abilities, innovative proposals and ideas for students and the faculty of domestic specialized higher educational institutions, for it is the younger generation that is associated with the future and progressive development of our Homeland.

Thus, we are currently witnessing the formation of modern fundamental science in the country, absorbing both the achievements of global scientific and technological progress, as well as the unique developments of domestic scientists keeping pace with the times.

Close interrelation between education, science and production is ensured in accordance with the adopted State programs, in particular, the Program "Revival of the New Epoch of the Powerful State: National Program for the Socio-Economic Development of Turkmenistan in 2022–2052", the Program of the President of Turkmenistan for the Socio-Economic Development of the Country in 2022–2028 and others. A vivid confirmation of this was the recent granting of the status of an international scientific and technological park to the Technology Center of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan.

As was noted in the speeches delivered, today the country is making active efforts for the comprehensive development of domestic science, oriented towards solving priority tasks of socio-economic development.

International cooperation plays an important role in the continuous improvement of domestic science, which ensures an increase in the effectiveness of scientific research through the attraction of the best foreign practices and experience.

The speakers emphasized that a high degree of internationalization of scientific works presupposes regular scientific contacts, exchange of experience, internships, joint implementation of international projects and programs, and development of mechanisms of scientific expertise. All this serves not only the effectiveness of the scientific research being conducted, but also directly contributes to mutual understanding and mutual enrichment of peoples, their fruitful live communication.

Noting that the current scientific forum will be an important step towards strengthening the established constructive dialogue, the meeting participants expressed sincere gratitude to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Hero Arkadag for their multifaceted activities aimed at expanding international, including scientific, partnership in the interests of global sustainable development.

Emphasizing that scientific potential is an integral part of the national heritage, the foundation of the state's might and prosperity, and the enhancement of its prestige in the world, the gathered participants highly appreciated the attention paid by our state to the training of highly qualified young specialists, raising their educational level, broadening their horizons and scientific worldview.

The innovative development course taken by Turkmenistan and the introduction of the latest technologies is supported by a quality education system that trains highly qualified, erudite specialists – true enthusiasts, wholly engrossed in science.

In this regard, special attention is paid to stimulating the interest of talented young people, creating conditions for conducting relevant scientific research, and expanding the range of ongoing research in the most promising areas. The best example of this is the regular holding of a competition of scientific works among the youth of Turkmenistan on the eve of Science Day.

According to the good tradition, the delegates of the International Scientific Conference " Science, Technology and Innovative Technologies in the Era of the Revival of the New Era of the Powerful State " were invited to the solemn ceremony of honoring the winners of this prestigious intellectual competition, which took place in the second half of the day at the Magtymguly Turkmen State University.

Tomorrow, the scientific forum will continue its work within the framework of seven thematic sections, which will be held at the country's leading universities: "Nanotechnologies, Chemical Technologies, Study of New Materials and Energy" (Yagshygeldi Kakayev International University of Oil and Gas); "Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Agriculture, Ecology and Genetics" (International Scientific and Technological Park of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan); "Information and Communication Systems, Computer Technologies" (Institute of Telecommunications and Informatics of Turkmenistan); "Modern Medicine and Drug Production Technologies" (Myrat Garryev State Medical University of Turkmenistan); "Innovative Economics" (Turkmen State Institute of Economics and Management); "Humanities" (International University for Humanities and Development); "Magtymguly Fragi – Poet of the Human Soul" (Magtymguly Turkmen State University).

An extensive cultural program has been prepared for foreign guests, including familiarization with museums and other sights of the Turkmen capital.
