A Turkmen athlete Suvkhan Ovezgeldiyev won the championship belt in Combat Sambo at the Grand Prix international tournament held in Ulan-Ude. This success was achieved by the employee of the Ashgabat City Prosecutor's Office in the weight category up to 88 kg, defeating Russian Ivan Intyukhov in the final.

The competition, which was held under the new rules of the Combat Sambo League, involved 14 athletes from 8 countries – Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

The main feature of this Grand Prix was that the tournament was held without preliminary meetings – the athletes went straight to the finals in their respective weight categories. The winners, in addition to the championship belt, received a cash prize of 100,000 rubles.

The Combat Sambo League was founded in February 2020 with the aim of popularizing this sport and supporting its athletes.
