The Iranian and Uzbekistan teams will be opponents of Turkmen footballers at the first stage of the Central Asian Football Association (CAFA) Championship among youth teams (under 20), which will be held from July 5 to 12 in Jalal-Abad (Kyrgyzstan).

Six teams divided into 2 groups will participate in the tournament.

Turkmenistan and its opponents form group "B". Group "A" will include youth teams from Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Afghanistan.

According to the tournament regulations, teams will play one round at the group stage. Then the group winners will meet in the final. Teams finishing second in their groups will compete for bronze medals. A consolation match for fifth-sixth places will also be held.

The Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system will be used in all CAFA U20 Championship matches.

Turkmenistan's participation in this tournament is considered as preparation for the 2025 Asian Cup qualifying round among youth teams. The qualification tournament for Turkmen footballers, whose opponents in group "I" will be teams from Japan, Kyrgyzstan and Myanmar, will be held in one round from September 25 to 29 in Bishkek.
