Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Turkmenistan Ali Mojtaba Rouzbehani expressed confidence in further strengthening of interstate relations between Tehran and Ashgabat. The diplomat said this after the meeting of the heads of the state concern «Türkmengaz» with the delegation of the Islamic Republic of Iran held today in the Turkmen capital.
«Following the meeting, the Turkmen and Iranian sides signed an agreement on the purchase and sale of up to 10 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year, which will be supplied to the Republic of Iraq in transit through the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran under the «SWAP» scheme.
These agreements testify to the agreements reached during the summit meetings of the two countries. There is a firm belief that the implementation of such large projects will contribute to the further strengthening of relations between our countries», – the ambassador of IRI said.
The positive experience of joint work between Turkmenistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran in the gas sector constitutes a solid foundation for expanding the potential of bilateral relations based on the principles of friendship, good neighbourliness, mutual respect and equal cooperation.
