"Give Blood. Give Now. Give Often" is a slogan of the World Blood Donor Day 2017 that focuses of the role of donors for saving of lives and formation of sufficient blood and its components reserves.
Traditionally, scientific and practical conference was held on the World Blood Donor Day. Representatives of non-governmental organizations and mass media took part in it along with medical specialists. Regular blood donors were the honoured guests of the event. The Press
House of the Publishing Service of Turkmenistan held the action of blood donation where few dozens of people took part.
The blood service is one of the component of efficient work of the public health system. The functions of the Blood Centre under the Department of Infectious Diseases of the Ministry of Public Health and Medical Industry includes gathering and transfusion of blood and its components, preparation and application of blood products for medical and preventative institutions. Planning and registry of donors, the control of their medical test, preparation of blood, its components and standard serums, provision of medical and preventative institutions as well as storage of red cells and components of the blood is under responsibility of the Centre as well.
Screening of donors’ blood as well as analysis of cases of transfusion-induced complications and preventative measures are carried out in the laboratory of the Centre. Personnel of the blood banks of the regions and medical and preventative institutions regularly improve their professional skills in the Centre.
At present moment, the Law on Donorship is under development in Turkmenistan and according to the Article 156 of the Labour Code of Turkmenistan, the donor is entitled on release from work and free meal on the day of donation as well as for one day off.
