The oil and gas branch of Turkmenistan increases its capacities

Partnership in the energy sphere is the major area of international economic cooperation of Turkmenistan.

Based on the principles of diversification, which serves as basis of national energy policy, our country goes on the path of active development of close interaction with other states and international organisations in the field of energy. Wide and multiplane professional relations with leading world companies, which show a high interest in joint activity with their Turkmen partners attest to this fact.

In the given context, regular meetings of heads of oil and gas branch of Turkmenistan with leadership of companies ADNOC (United Arab Emirates) and Hyundai Engineering Co Ltd. (Republic of Korea) took place on July 29 of the current year.

During negotiations with the delegation of ADNOC, which was headed by Senior Vice President Abdullah Al Shamsi, a wide range of issues connected with realisation of the project of development of the third stage of the deposit «Galkynysh» were discussed.

As known, in 2022-2024, during visits of President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the United Arab Emirates strong bases of cooperation between two countries were laid in the field of oil and gas. In particular, important documents, which had outlined concrete spheres and parameters of joint activity at the deposit «Galkynysh», were signed. At present, the process of implementation of reached bilateral agreements is in the active phase of practical realisation. The parties in detail consider legal, commercial, investment, financial, technical and other components of the project of accomplishment of the deposit "Galkynysh". It is necessary to note that realisation of such plans is directly connected with advancement of the project of the gas pipeline "Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India" (TAPI).

One of the features of the present stage of negotiations was expression of readiness for joint work with the oil and gas companies from Kazakhstan on the part of ADNOC. At that, one should pay attention that the Turkmen party repeatedly expressed support to participation of economic structures of neighbouring states in realisation of large-scale international gas projects of Turkmenistan.

Today, heads of «Türkmengaz» State Concern held the next round of consultations with the delegation of the South Korean company Hyundai Engineering Co. Ltd. led by its Senior Vice President Jung Song Yong in which sides exchanged opinions on the present state and work prospects for development of the fourth phase of the deposit «Galkynysh».

Having noted a high level of bilateral interaction, the delegations attached special attention to consideration of prominent aspects of the above-named project in which issues of legal support and organisation of work take a significant place.

Korean partners stated that the possibilities opening for Hyundai Engineering in connection with its forthcoming participation in accomplishment of the deposit «Galkynysh», will allow to use on the one hand a wide potential, which the company holds in realisation of projects in energy and on the another hand - to enrich its earlier gained international experience by new knowledge and practice in the field of gas sector. Necessity of fulfilment of the agreements reached during mutual visits at the higher state level in 2023-2024 was also underlined. The parties agreed to continue regular meetings according to earlier co-ordinated schedules.

The negotiations, which were held today in the oil and gas complex of the country in the atmosphere of friendship, openness and constructivism, once again displayed a high degree of interest of foreign companies of various states in the work with the energy sector of Turkmenistan.
