In 2024, the volume of agricultural product exports increased in Turkmenistan. The main share of exports consists of watermelons and melons.
During the first seven months of this year, the volume of watermelon exports grew tenfold compared to the total export volume for the entire year of 2022, and ninefold compared to the total melon crop export volume for 2023.
The main importers of watermelons this year were Russia and Qatar. 62 percent of the total volume of exported watermelons was sent to the Russian Federation and 38 percent to Qatar.
Melon exports for the seven months of the current year exceeded the total volume of melon exports for 2022 by 1.2 times and by 1.4 times for 2023. A significant portion of melon exports for January-July 2024 was made to Russia. This accounts for 79 percent of all exports. Kazakhstan is also among the main importing countries of Turkmen melons.
