World Ranger Day is celebrated annually on July 31st, dedicated to honoring and recognizing the contributions of rangers (nature reserve inspectors). They play a crucial role in protecting nature and preserving biodiversity.
To commemorate this date, the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan organized a "Round Table" at the Hydrometeorological Service building. Outstanding inspectors from each state nature reserve and staff from the Environmental Protection Department of Balkan velayat were invited to the event.
They presented the latest inspection technologies that aid in combating violations of environmental legislation. In particular, they introduced the SMART (Spatial Monitoring and Reporting Tool) system, which enhances the effectiveness of conservation activities through the use of GPS technologies.
The "Round Table" was conducted in collaboration with the UNDP/GEF project "Conservation and Sustainable Management of Land Resources and High Nature Value Ecosystems in the Aral Sea Basin for Multiple Benefits" and the regional program "Cores Corridors and Cats across Central Asia." funded by Conservation X Labs (CXL).
At the conclusion of the meeting, inspectors received certificates and valuable gifts necessary for their fieldwork.
