As part of a joint project to control infectious diseases, specialists from the UN Development Programme in Turkmenistan handed over to the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan a stationary unit for disinfection of medical waste, including liquid medical waste.
This equipment has already been installed in the Blood Centre of the Directorate of Infectious Diseases of Turkmenistan. Thanks to the modern disposal system, medical waste that may be contaminated undergoes a stage of deep disinfection and becomes safe for further disposal.
Also, the equipment supplied by UNDP will help to strengthen the environmental safety of medical institutions, ensuring minimal carbon dioxide emissions and eliminating the need to use chemicals for disinfection of medical waste.
Full automation of the process and a built-in documentation system ensure a high level of safety and transparency of all disinfection cycles. In the future, it is planned to equip other medical institutions in Turkmenistan with similar equipment.
