Turkmenistan is studying the Harmonized Commodity Description and Coding System

A National Seminar on Goods Classification was organized at the Training Center of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan. This was reported on the website of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan.

It was attended by specialists from relevant Central Asian agencies, responsible for developing methodology and educational materials.

Participants reviewed the experience of classifying goods in accordance with the Harmonized Commodity Description and Coding System.

The Harmonized Commodity Description and Coding System is a unified international product classifier developed by the Customs Cooperation Council. Its application allows for the collection of reliable and accurate statistics on global trade, which are unified and understandable for all countries.

The system includes 21 sections and 99 groups (3 of which are reserved) and consists of all products involved in global trade.

The classification is based on various distinctive features of products, such as origin, function, chemical composition and manufacturing material.
