The oxygen plants were set up at the Scientific and Clinical Center for Maternal and Child Health in Ashgabat and the Maternal and Child Health Center in Dashoguz.
This initiative was implemented by the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan in collaboration with UNICEF.
Oxygen is a vital medical resource necessary for treating respiratory diseases and managing a wide range of medical conditions, as well as improving overall health indicators.
UNICEF will also provide technical assistance to ensure the full functionality of the stations and their integration into the national healthcare system.
Alexandru Nartea, Deputy Representative UNICEF Turkmenistan, noted that increasing oxygen availability can have lifesaving impact on the health of mothers, newborns and children, and contribute towards meeting Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) targets. In the future, UNICEF will continue to work closely with the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry to incorporate up-to-date respiratory therapy techniques into clinical care training programs.
