Carrots are consistently present among the crops sown twice a year in Dashoguz velayat.

This spring, carrots were planted on 730 hectares in the northern region of the country, yielding a rich harvest of over 13,000 tons in the summer. Now, autumn carrot plantings cover an area of forty hectares in the region. Farmers expect to harvest more than 700 tons with a yield of at least 180 centners per hectare.

These volumes allow meeting local consumer demands and maintaining stable prices for the produce. Traditionally, the largest carrot producers for both spring and autumn plantings in the velayat are the farmers of the Akdepe and Boldumsaz etraps.

Carrot is a cold-resistant crop, making them suitable for autumn cultivation. The relative ease of cultivation, low soil requirements, and acceptable growing periods are important factors for producing this crop in large volumes. Local farmers have accumulated extensive experience in successfully growing various carrot varieties. However, yellow carrots are particularly popular, as they mature in acceptable periods, including intermediate ones. It is believed that only yellow carrots, combined with local rice varieties, can impart a unique taste and aroma to the renowned Dashoguz pilaf.
