Turkmen teams have achieved further victories at the 45th World Chess Olympiad, which is ongoing in Budapest, Hungary.
In the 7th round, the women's team of Turkmenistan (73rd seed), with an average rating of 1956 points, in a tough fight with a score of 2.5:1.5 defeated the experienced Cubans (average rating - 2215), seeded under the 29th number, consisting of three international grandmasters and one international master. And our men's team (73rd seed; average rating - 2332) beat the team of Jamaica (seeded number - 105; average rating - 2161) - 3:1.
The decisive winning point for the women's team was brought by 17-year-old Leyla Shohradova, who won on the third board against the female grandmaster Yaniela Forgas Moreno (rating 2203), and the games on the other three boards ended in a draw.
Now our girls with 10 points out of 14 possible occupy 25th place in the overall standings, maintaining the leadership in Group «C». In the next, 8th round, the Turkmen chess players will play with the Swiss team, which is in 16th place (21st seed; average rating - 2282), led by the former world champion Alexandra Kostenyuk, who emigrated from Russia, who in the individual standings on the 1st board after 7 rounds with 5.5 points out of 6 takes 2nd place, demonstrating an actual rating level (rating performance) of 2643.
Turkmen chess player Enesh Arazmedova is also on the list of leaders in the individual standings on the 5th reserve board, occupying 5th place among 169 participants after 7 rounds with a performance rating of 2418. International Grandmaster Meylis Annaberdiyev (board 2) and 18-year-old Amanmuhammet Hommadov (board 3) made a significant contribution to the victory of our men's team over the Jamaican team, winning their games.
