Today, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov left for a two-day working visit to the Russian Federation to attend the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
Turkmenistan's leader was seen off by officials at the Ashgabat International Airport.
Under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, our country consistently implements the foreign policy based on the principles of peace, positive neutrality and broad mutually beneficial cooperation. This constructive strategy places great importance on strengthening fruitful partnerships with authoritative international and regional organizations.
As an associate member of the CIS, Turkmenistan takes an active position in developing interstate cooperation both bilaterally and multilaterally. Building relationships with CIS member states based on historically established traditions of friendship and good neighborliness, our country regularly participates in important meetings and forums within the CIS framework and also hosts them. Thus, in May of this year, Ashgabat hosted a meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Commonwealth of Independent States, which was conducted in a businesslike manner and at a high organizational level.
Striving to fully contribute to enhancing effective partnerships, Turkmenistan puts forward concrete proposals aimed at developing new relevant forms and implementing promising joint projects. One illustrative example is the Declaration on Strategic Economic Cooperation of CIS member states, adopted following the CIS Summit held in Ashgabat in October 2019. This conceptual document, aimed at optimal realization of diverse interaction potential, was developed on the initiative of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of Halk Maslahaty Hero-Arkadag Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. The key principles of this Declaration form the basis for the CIS Economic Development Strategy until 2030, the adoption of which has given new substantive content to the entire course of partnership by specifying its priority directions with a long-term perspective.
Moreover, an important component of interaction within the CIS space is the humanitarian and cultural sphere, where significant experience in joint work has been accumulated. As is known, this year marks the 300th anniversary of the birth of the great Turkmen poet and thinker Magtymguly Fragi, whose creative legacy is an integral part of world culture's treasure trove. Events dedicated to this significant date are being held in all CIS countries. Thus, becoming a significant event in the cultural life of the Commonwealth, Magtymguly Fragi's anniversary also contributes to strengthening ties of friendship and brotherhood among our peoples united by common spiritual and humanistic values.
Alongside this, Turkmenistan takes an initiative position in matters of interstate cooperation in sports. Today, our country has considerable experience in organizing and hosting major regional and global competitions. This is facilitated by modern specialized infrastructure that allows hosting major international competitions in various sports. In this context, it should be noted that Ashgabat was declared as the City of New Sports Opportunities of the Commonwealth at the aforementioned meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of Government.
... After flying to Moscow, the presidential airliner landed at Vnukovo-2 airport, where Turkmenistan's leader was met by officials.
The participation of the President of Turkmenistan in the upcoming October 8 meeting of the Council of Heads of State of CIS is yet another clear confirmation of our country’s commitment to equal constructive dialogue within the Commonwealth format, aimed at further enhancing fruitful partnerships that serve common well-being interests.
