On October 11, 2024, the National Leader of Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met with the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, who arrived in Ashgabat to participate in the International Forum «Interrelation of Times and Civilizations – Basis of Peace and Development».
Having warmly welcomed the distinguished guest, the National Leader of the Turkmen people expressed gratitude to the Russian leader for participating in the representative forum and congratulated him on being awarded the jubilee medal «Magtymguly Pyragynyň 300 ýyllygyna».
Having thanked for the high award, the head of the friendly state noted the high level of organization of a major international forum and the efforts of the Government of our country, following the principles of the great humanist Magtymguly Fragi, to maintain peace and stability in the region, expand and fill multifaceted international cooperation with new content.
During the meeting, it was noted with satisfaction that within the framework of the strategic partnership, the positive dynamics of interaction between Turkmenistan and Russia in the political, trade, economic, cultural, humanitarian and other areas is maintained, which is facilitated by regular contacts at the highest level and through the foreign ministries of the two states, the intensification of inter-parliamentary relations.
As the National Leader of the Turkmen people emphasized, the participation of President Vladimir Putin in this Forum serves as a proof of high respect of Russia for the works of Magtymguly. As is known, monuments to this outstanding poet and thinker of the East have been established in Moscow, the Astrakhan Region and the Stavropol Territory. A comprehensive school named after Magtymguly Fragi has also been built in the Astrakhan Region.
Speaking about cultural and humanitarian ties as an important component of Turkmen-Russian relations, the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan noted with satisfaction the regularity of mutual Days of Culture in the two countries, which contribute to the further rapprochement of the fraternal peoples.
As was emphasized, Turkmenistan pays great attention not only to the culture of Russia, but also to the study of the Russian language and literature. One example of the high level of cooperation in the field of education is the Joint Turkmen-Russian Secondary Comprehensive School named after A.S. Pushkin functioning in Ashgabat. Today, Russian is language in all educational institutions of Turkmenistan. Tens of thousands of Turkmen students are studying at Russian universities.
An important place on the agenda of the multifaceted Turkmen-Russian dialogue, according to the general opinion, is also occupied by the development of trade and economic ties, coordinated by the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Russian Commission on Economic Cooperation.
Having thanked President Vladimir Putin for his great personal contribution to the development and strengthening of Turkmen-Russian relations, the National Leader of Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan wished the head of Russia good health and success in responsible state activities, and the people of the Russian Federation – well-being and prosperity.
