Representatives of Turkmenistan took part in the hybrid international scientific and practical conference «Land Reclamation and Water Management - the Basis of Food and Environmental Security» via video link.
The conference was dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the Russian Academy of Sciences, as well as the centenary of the activities of the Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation - «Federal Scientific Centre for Hydraulic Engineering and Land Reclamation named after A.N. Kostyakov» (VNIIGiM, Moscow), which is associated with the development of Turkmen hydraulic engineering and the construction of the Garagum River.
Our country was represented by researchers from the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, the Turkmen State University named after Makhtumkuli, the National Institute of Deserts, Flora and Fauna (NIDPFA) of the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan. The prepared poster presentations were devoted to monitoring degraded landscapes of transboundary zones of Turkmenistan and their restoration, a comprehensive analysis of wild fruit plants of the Southwestern Kopetdag, and vegetation in the vicinity of the collecting reservoir of the Turkmen Lake «Altyn Asyr».
The key issue of the discussions was the multifaceted area of water use.
Scientists from our region were interested in discussing the factors of biosphere nature management to justify complex melioration, the creation of educational and scientific sites for irrigation of lands for seed production, the efficiency of the information and computing complex for irrigation standardization and water use planning during the operation of irrigation and drainage systems.
The conference also discussed the development of a forage production system on engineering systems of estuary irrigation in difficult natural conditions, the operation of hydraulically controlled drippers in a gravity drip irrigation system, engineering solutions for soil melioration when applying liquid organic fertilizers, and the hydraulic power take-off system of the LHT-4 tractor.
Representatives of the scientific community in the field of water management, irrigation and construction of hydraulic structures had the opportunity to get acquainted with the work of colleagues from different countries, present their achievements, offer developments, ideas, and projects.
