The 29th International Conference "Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan - 2024": Key Highlights of the Second Day

The 29th International Conference and Exhibition "Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan - 2024" continues in Ashgabat. The event featured two panel discussions focused on new export routes and the potential of Turkmen natural gas.

Myrat Archaev, Deputy Chairman of the State Concern "Turkmengaz," emphasized in his speech that increasing natural gas exports could significantly contribute to the country's economic growth. Key topics of discussion also included the current dynamics of export markets and the challenges facing the gas sector.

The second panel was dedicated to the monetization of natural gas as a key element of the energy transition. Annageldi Saparov, Minister of Energy of Turkmenistan, discussed strategies for attracting investment in the gas sector and the important role of natural gas in achieving zero emissions.

Rustem Tekaev, Head of Gas Transportation and Supply Department at SC "Turkmengaz," noted in his speech that the gas industry remains a strategic direction for the development of the national economy. Within the framework of the Program for Socio-Economic Development for 2022-2028, a significant increase in gas production is planned with an emphasis on export.

At the session dedicated to underground gas storage (UGS), Nazar Saparmyradov, an engineer at the Scientific Research Institute of Natural Gas under SC "Turkmengaz," presented opportunities for creating UGS to balance seasonal consumption fluctuations. In collaboration with British company GaffneyCline, suitable geological structures for organizing UGS were identified.

Gurbangeldi Garlyyev, a representative of the State Corporation "Turkmengeologiya," emphasized the implementation of new technologies in geological exploration, including 3D seismic surveys and smart wells.

The conference continues its work.
