Today, the "Senagat" Joint-Stock Commercial Bank hosted a scientific-practical conference titled "Turkmen Manat - A Symbol of Sustainable Development of the Country" dedicated to the 31st anniversary of the introduction of  national currency of Turkmenistan.

Over these years, the country's banking system has achieved significant success in developing digital technologies and integrating into the international financial market. On this momentous occasion, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov extended his congratulations to banking sector workers and the entire Turkmen people. The Central Bank of Turkmenistan organized the conference. Representatives from relevant ministries and departments, as well as banking institutions, participated in the event. The conference discussed current issues related to the development of the national banking system and currency circulation.

In their speeches, speakers emphasized that during its existence, the Turkmen manat has undergone several changes in appearance, reflecting modern requirements for security and design. New elements appeared on banknotes, including watermarks, one of which depicted an Akhal-Teke horse. On January 1, 2009, denominated coins and banknotes featuring images of prominent historical figures and architectural monuments of Turkmenistan were introduced. At the same time, coins in denominations of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 tenge were put into circulation, and later in 2010, coins with denominations of 1 and 2 manats appeared. In 2012, the Central Bank of Turkmenistan introduced updated banknotes in denominations of 1, 5, 10 and 20 manats, and in 2014 released new banknotes in denominations of 1, 50 and 100 manats.

The speakers highlighted that creating its own currency was an important step in Turkmenistan's economic development, marking the beginning of a sovereign economic policy for the country and playing a significant role in strengthening its independence. The conference also noted that it is a tradition in Turkmenistan to issue commemorative and jubilee coins dedicated to important historical events and dates, reflecting the significance of the manat for national identity.

As part of the conference, an exhibition was organized showcasing samples of currency notes and commemorative coins made from precious metals issued by the Central Bank of Turkmenistan over the years of independence, as well as jewelry and exhibits dedicated to the history of Turkmen numismatics.
