On November 9, the annual inclusive festival "We Are Different, We Are Equal" will take place in the first park of Ashgabat, organized by the UN Country Team in Turkmenistan in collaboration with local public organizations and supported by the Government of Turkmenistan.
This event aims to promote inclusion and equality by providing a supportive space for people with disabilities to communicate and showcase their abilities, talents and achievements. The festival is intended to demonstrate that creating a safe and inclusive environment contributes to the full participation of people with disabilities in public life. It is an important opportunity to draw attention to the issues of building an inclusive society ahead of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, which is celebrated annually on December 3. A diverse program of creative, sports activities and entertainment has been prepared for festival participants so that everyone can find activities that match their interests and abilities.
In the sports area, people with hearing and visual impairments will be able to play volleyball, table tennis and chess. Climbing and sports games for the whole family are offered for active outdoor recreation. In the creative activities zone, there will be a drawing contest, quizzes, face painting for children, and a special exhibition of souvenirs and accessories by artists with disabilities. Among the entertainment are music and dance performances by artists and a flash mob. The festival organizers invite guests to participate in these activities to gain a unique experience and feel the inspiring atmosphere while celebrating inclusion and equality.
