The 48th meeting of the Intergovernmental Council of Road Builders of the CIS countries was held in Ashgabat.
The meeting, held in a hybrid mode, was attended by representatives of road, transport and research organizations of the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan, associate members of the Intergovernmental Council of Road Builders, as well as representatives of the CIS Executive Committee and the Executive Committee of the Coordinating Transport Conference of the CIS Member States.
The meeting was opened by the Chairman of the Intergovernmental Road Council, Head of the Council Secretariat Buri Karimov. The participants of the meeting were greeted by the Deputy General Secretary of the CIS Ilhom Nematov and the Chairman of the State Agency for Management of Road Construction of Turkmenistan Hangeldi Kerimov.
During the meeting, 16 issues were considered, including the condition and development of roads in Turkmenistan, the inclusion of the Ashgabat-Turkmenabat highway in the List of international highways of the CIS, the report of the Secretariat of the Intergovernmental Road Council on the work done between the meetings of the Council, the development of integration in the CIS transport sector during the implementation of the Action Plan for the implementation of the first stage (2021-2025) of the CIS Economic Development Strategy for the period up to 2030, etc.
At the meeting, Ilhom Nematov, on behalf of the CIS General Secretary Sergey Lebedev, presented the CIS Executive Committee Certificate to the Deputy Director General of the «Türkmenýoltaslama» Design Institute of the State Agency for Management of Road Construction of Turkmenistan Nury Tagangylyjov for many years of fruitful work within the Commonwealth of Independent States. The next, 49th meeting of the council will be held on the 5th of May, 2025 in Ryazan (Russian Federation).
The Intergovernmental Council of Road Builders, which unites the road agencies of all the Commonwealth countries, is a body of industry cooperation that promptly responds to the growing demands of states to ensure uninterrupted international road communication and develop transport infrastructure. Its goal is to promote the development and improvement of the public road network, create conditions for more complete use of the production and scientific-technical potential of road organisations of the CIS member states, provide support to governments in pursuing a coordinated road policy and deepening integration processes, and improve the level of personnel training.
