The doubles competitions for boys and girls at the international tournament "Ashgabat Open 2024" ended today with a convincing victory for representatives of the Turkmen tennis school.
In the men's final, which lasted 2 hours and 15 minutes, Nazar Amangeldiev and Kerimgeldi Velibegov won in both sets on a tie-break against the second-seeded compatriots Yunus Annamyradov and Ali Geldiev – 7:6 (7:4), 7:6 (7:4).
In the second set N. Amangeldiev and K. Velibegov were conceding 1:4, but were able to turn the game around. Above, on the way to the final, they sensationally cheated the number one seed Suleiman Khudaiberdiev and Emirkhan Rustamov on a super tie-break in the first round - 2:6, 6:1, 10. 5: 5, then in the quarterfinals cheated Begenchgeldi Khummetov and Govshut Soyunov - 6:2, 6:2, and in the semifinals they outplayed Yaroslav Bobrov (Kazakhstan) and Muhammetsap Serdarov (Turkmenistan) 6:0, 6:0.
In the final, Yunus Annamyradov and Ali Geldiev, with the score 3-6, played one matchball in a tie-break, but could not save the game.
In the women's doubles, as expected, seeded under the number one Turkmen tennis players Ilima Huseinova and Ailara Kakabaeva are leaded. In the quarterfinals and semifinals, they easily won over Iranian players Mahra Parniyan and Shaila Savakh and compatriots Ainura Agamuradova and Jennet Orazalieva (No. 4 seed) with the same score of 6:0, 6:0, and in the final they outplayed second-seeded Ainur Annamyradova and Nazli Khudaykulieva 6:4, 6:1.
It is remarkable that 11-year-old Nazli Khudaikulieva and 13-year-old Ailara Kakabaeva went to the final match in doubles after a grueling semi-final singles match, which lasted 2 hours and 15 minutes and took a lot of strength from both tennis players. N.Khudaikulieva won the 1st set – 7:5. But the next two were for A.Kakabaeva – 6:1, 6:3.
In the other semifinal, Ilima Huseinova had no problems playing against 11-year-old Sulgun Ishankulieva, who is three years her junior, winning in two sets - 6:3, 6:2.
Therefore, Ilima Huseinova and Ailara Kakabaeva will meet in the women's singles final. And bronze medals in the match for third place will be played by Nazli Khudaikulieva and Sulgun Ishankulieva.
In the men's singles final Suleiman Khudaiberdiev (Turkmenistan) and Muhammad Usmani (Pakistan) will compete for the main prize, and Malaysians Gareth Lim Hao Jae and Jacob Wong will play in the match for the third place. This was determined by the results of the semifinal matches, in which S. Khudaiberdiev, lost the first set, gained a willful victory over Gareth Lim Hao Jae - 3:6, 7:5, 6:0, and M. Usmani easily outplayed D. Wong - 6:2, 6:1.
The final singles matches will be held on November 16 at the Tennis Complex of the Olympic Town of the Turkmen capital.
The international tennis tourney "Ashgabat Open 2024", which continued throughout this week, brought together boys and girls under the age of 14 from 12 countries – Great Britain, India, Iran, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, the United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.
