A modern plant for the production of glycyrrhizic acid has been successfully launched in the city of Turkmenabat. The new enterprise, which is part of the “Buýan” agro-industrial complex and subordinated to the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan, produces glycyrrhizic acid in pure form. The products are in high demand in domestic and foreign markets.

Turkmen licorice is characterized with a high content of glycyrrhizic acid, which is a natural compound extracted from licorice roots. This substance has many useful properties and plays a significant role in the medical, pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries.

Especially, glycyrrhizic acid is active against various strains of viruses, including herpes, Varicella Zoster and cytomegalovirus. Beyond that, it is known for its anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory and hepato protective properties, which makes it relevant for the treatment of liver diseases and allergic reactions.

The production capacity of the plant reaches 4,500 tons of licorice root per year, approximately 390 tons of crude glycyrrhizic acid are obtained from. Special attention is paid to quality at all stages of production - from the procurement of raw materials to the receipt of finished products.

The laboratory of bacteriology and microbiology of the plant, equipped with modern devices, conducts the necessary tests of raw materials and controls its characteristics, which makes it possible to predict the capacity of final products and the content of glycyrrhizic acid in the powder.

The production process includes several stages. The root enters the crushing plant, then goes to an extraction machine with 54 extractors, each one is produce 200 kilograms of extract. Then the extract is dried, ground into powder and packaged in moisture-resistant 25 kg bags. "Made in Turkmenistan" inscription on the bags is a guarantee that this is an ecologically clean product.

The commissioning of a new glycyrrhizic acid production plant in Turkmenabat has become an important step for the country's agro-industrial complex, contributing to strengthening the economy and improving medical care. Therefore, it has a positive effect on the quality of life of the population.
