The role of women in the transport sector is becoming increasingly important due to the growing awareness of the importance of diversity and inclusion in various sectors of the economy. At the International conference and exhibition "International Transport and Transit Corridors: Interconnection and Development – 2024" one of the topics of discussion was the session "Women in Transport: Leadership and Growth Opportunities".
The round table brought together women in leadership positions who are making significant contributions to the development of this dynamically developing field.
The discussion of current issues was attended by the Chairman of the National Center of Trade Unions and the Central Council of the Women's Union of Turkmenistan Oguljennet Berdilieva, Deputy Minister of Transport of the Republic of Tajikistan Shoista Saidmurodzoda, Consultant on the development of transport corridors in the USAID project "Trade in Central Asia" Aizhan Beiseeva.
The meeting was moderated by the Chairperson of the Union of Professional Consultants of Tajikistan (UPCT) Larisa Kislyakova.
Today, women demonstrate impressive results in the field of logistics. The director of the company "Dört Tarap Logistika" Anna Titova, director of the company "Döwrebap ulag merkezi" Mahri Arrykova and transport and logistics expert Sahra Amanova.
Women leaders emphasized that their involvement in the transport sector brings new ideas and approaches, which contributes to the optimization of processes and the effective management of commodity flows. Diversity of opinions in teams plays a key role in developing innovative strategies that allow companies to adapt to rapidly changing market conditions.
Mahri Arrykova noted that true leadership is not a privilege, but hard work. However, the number of women in leadership positions continues to grow. In the corporate sector, gender equality has become a key topic of discussion. Systematic analysis of various aspects has opened up opportunities for women in our country, allowing them to successfully run the transport business on an equal basis with men.
At the end of the event, Sahra Amanova, a representative of WiLAT Turkmenistan, was awarded a certificate of membership in the Chartered Institute of Transport and Logistics CILT (UK). WiLAT (Women in Logistics and Transport) is a division of CILT that aims to advance the status of women in the field. The organisation focuses on supporting career development for women in transport and logistics.
Also, on behalf of CILT, a diploma for completion of the training program was presented to a graduate from Turkmenistan, Sabina Ibragimova.
The round table became a platform for exchanging experiences and discussing ways of further development of women in logistics. The participants came to the undeniable conclusion that women's involvement can significantly increase the efficiency and sustainability of the entire industry.
