Speaking at the 16th meeting of the Council of Elders of the Organization of Turkic States in Budapest, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov called for promoting people's diplomacy based on the principles of prosperity, peace, mutual respect and good neighborliness.
As emphasized by the National Leader of the Turkmen people: "Most importantly, we must promote the philosophy of peace and implement this policy advocated by the leaders of our countries." This is supported by Turkmenistan's initiative to adopt the United Nations General Assembly Resolution "Central Asia – a Zone of Peace, Trust and Cooperation" and to declare the upcoming year as the "International Year of Peace and Trust."
To support peace initiatives and the activities of the Council of Elders of the Organization of Turkic States aimed at strengthening friendship and brotherhood among peoples, the National Leader of the Turkmen people proposed creating a newspaper or magazine and a website for the Council.
Recalling that next year marks 30 years since Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality proclaimed by the Community of Nations, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also proposed holding a meeting of the Council of Elders of the Organization of Turkic States in Ashgabat in 2025, coinciding with the anniversary of the country's neutrality.
