During the visit of the Technical Advisory Mission of the European Regional Office of the World Health Organization to Turkmenistan, specialists laid the foundation for a new National Strategic Plan for Tuberculosis Control for 2026-2030. The five-day mission was led by the regional Adviser to the bureau, Askar Yedilbayev.
The mission delegates met with representatives of the WHO Country Office in Turkmenistan to present the results of the review of the National Tuberculosis Control Plan for 2021-2025. The review was conducted by a WHO/EUROPE expert group led by Askar Yedilbayev. Another expert, Mikhail Volik, presented a draft roadmap for the development of a new National Tuberculosis Control Plan for 2026-2030.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan, Turkmen State Medical University named after Myrat Garriev, the Directorate of the Centers for Infectious Diseases, medical institutions of Ashgabat and Akhal velayat, the National Red Crescent Society of Turkmenistan and the Coordination Committee of Turkmenistan.
The World Health Organization team also met with the Minister of Health of Turkmenistan. During the meeting, issues of experience exchange with experts from the European region were discussed.
