Turkmenistan is developing a National plan for pandemic preparedness and control

In order to strengthen Turkmenistan's national capacity in the field of preparedness and response to the pandemic caused by the respiratory pathogen, the Country Office of the World Health Organization organized a technical advisory mission.

The mission included experts from the WHO Regional Office for Europe, Claire Blackmore and Michal Hegermann–Lindenkron, as well as a specialist in pandemic planning and preparedness from WHO headquarters, Sarah Lee Hess. With their participation in Ashgabat, a national intersectoral seminar was held, at which the initiative of the World Health Organization was presented to ensure readiness for new threats and increasing resistance to them. This initiative includes the latest tools and approaches to collaborative learning and collective action that have been applied during public health emergencies.

The participants discussed five key areas of the program: emergency coordination, joint surveillance, public protection, clinical care, and access to pandemic prevention and control tools.

The key ideas will be taken into account in the development of Turkmenistan's National Plan for Pandemic Preparedness and Control.
