Situated at the advantageous crossroads of Central Asia and Europe, our country takes a responsible approach to the development of transport and logistics services between the states of the region and the continent, modernises the material and technical base of the national transport infrastructure, and consistently increases the international transport and transit potential.

Thus, the General Director of the Agency for Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers M. Chakyyev reported on the ongoing work to develop cooperation in the field of logistics between Turkmenistan and the Kyrgyz Republic at the Government meeting held last week.

In particular, it was reported on the measures taken to create a Joint Turkmen-Kyrgyz Commission on Transport, Transit and Logistics, which will contribute to the further activation of international transport and transit corridors in a number of areas. In this regard, the head of the Agency submitted a corresponding proposal to the head of state for consideration.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, having approved the proposal on the composition of the above-mentioned commission from the Turkmen side, emphasized that our country attaches great importance to increasing transport and logistics cooperation with the Kyrgyz Republic.

In this regard, it should be noted that Turkmenistan is implementing a number of large-scale projects to modernize and comprehensively develop the transport infrastructure in order to accelerate the development of the national economy. Work is underway to reconstruct the country's road networks, in addition to the existing ones, issues of building new highways are being worked out, and the creation of the North-South and West-East international transport corridors is in full swing.

Turkmenistan is the most important link in the transport and communication system of the Eurasian continent.
